Haleys Contribution:
Haleys were employed by the main contractor Bovis to work along side their in house commercial team on Sir John Thursby Community College (SJT), and Ridgewood Community High School (RCH). Both schools share the same site and in many instances the same building, which added certain complexities' to the construction and M&E services installation, as one of the schools is designed specifically for children with special needs (General learning difficulties & physical disabilities). The construction cost for SJT & RCH was circa £33 Million, the largest of four schools in Phase 2, of a £250m building schools for the future project. Our specialist Mechanical & Electrical services were engaged specifically to manage the Mechanical, Electrical, ICT & IBMS Sub-contractors, a total package cost of circa £6 Million. Lancashire County Councils commitment to sustainability and their aim to: Minimise energy consumption, generate renewable energy on site and provide sustainability data for teaching purposes, placed a heavy demand on the M&E team. Our experience of complex technological services installations, required to meet these aims, meant that Bovis could draw on our knowledge base to manage the valuations, large volume of changes and be confident that the targets were being made.
With Haleys assistance SJT & RCH finished on time and on budget, the first school in the project to achieve this.
